It’s the major spiritual practice shared by all the great religious traditions of the world. Pilgrimage not only means travelling to a different place. It also involves a passage from home to sacred spaces in order to deepen our awareness of the divine. Pilgrimage reminds us that, spiritually speaking, all of us are on a journey through life, regardless of how far we may travel.
Many pilgrims (including me) find that after going to a foreign land and visiting holy places, we’re better able to recognize the divine presence in everyday life, back home. Pilgrimage can teach us that every place is sacred, and every person and circumstance can be a doorway to the divine.
It’s a great privilege of my life to have gone on several international pilgrimages and to have led a few more. In 2018, I co-led the Center’s second pilgrimage to Israel-Palestine. In 2019, I co-led our pilgrimage to Assisi, Italy to follow in the footsteps of St. Francis and St. Claire.
Now, after a 3-year hiatus, I am thrilled to announce that Center for Spiritual Wisdom is once again offering a pilgrimage abroad. This time, we are heading to Greece and Turkey in September and October to follow in the footsteps of St. Paul the Mystic (details HERE). I hope you will consider joining us.
