On Thursday, November 10 at 7:00 pm Eastern, the Center will host another installment of its monthly discussion series called A Little About A Lot. The series engages the community in discussions around topics of social, religious, and spiritual interest. A Little About A Lot uses short formats like podcasts, web posts, short books, and videos curated from around the digital world.

The November discussion is The Four Stages of Spiritual Development based on the principles in M. Scott Peck’s book entitled The Different Drum: Community Making and Peace. The discussion will be facilitated by Center Associate Terry Decker with material assistance and contributions from Brandon Cook, Executive Director of Naming the Real. “While Peck used these stages in his psychiatric practice to treat mentally ill people,” offers Terry, “The Different Drum explores how an understanding of these stages can and should inform our public discourse and help build community.” It is this potential to inform our public discourse that Terry hopes to explore with you on November 10.

The 2-hour discussions are held virtually via Zoom and are led and hosted by Center for Spiritual Wisdom. Participants are asked to consume the following selection of materials prior to the discussion on November 10 (approximately one hour in total):

1. Video Overview (6 mins)
2. Podcast on Peck’s Four Stages (38 mins)
3. Essay on Peck’s Four Stages (7-8 minutes)
4. Optional: Essay from Sober to Stay (Stage Three: Agnosticism) (7-8 minutes)

There is no fee for this event. However, donations to Center for Spiritual Wisdom, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization, will be gratefully accepted. A suggested donation of $5 or more per discussion will help us continue to offer this and similar events.
