Ten week book study/discussion
led by CSW Associate Jean Woods
Starts Wednesday, Feb. 9, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Beginning in February, CSW will be launching a ten-week long book study on internationally acclaimed spiritual teacher, speaker, and author John Philip Newell’s latest book, Sacred Earth, Sacred Soul: Celtic Wisdom for Reawakening to What Our Souls Know and Healing the World. The book takes a look at our world today through the lens of Celtic wisdom by examining the lives and writings of people who lived from within the Celtic tradition. We will read and discuss so that we can better listen to and see the sacred around us for the healing of the earth.
This wonderful book draws deeply from the well of Celtic wisdom across the centuries to help us to recognize the sacred both around us and in us, calling us to wake up and see that there’s no going back to small, limited notions of God and the sacred.
— Michael Curry, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, and author of Love is the Way.
We will meet over Zoom every Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Feb. 9th through April 13th. The registration cost is based on ability to pay: $99 (an option that supports our ability to offer scholarships) or $49 per person. A limited number of scholarships are available upon request. Please email Registrar FLORA BROOKE for scholarship information.
Registrations are now being accepted via EVENTBRITE HERE. To allow maximum involvement by all participants, the group will be limited to 12 members. Participants will obtain their own copy of Sacred Earth, Sacred Soul. Please consider purchasing from a local bookstore. In Brevard, N.C., Highland Books will be happy to order it for you.

The study & discussion series will be led by CSW Associate Jean Woods. Jean’s passion is creation care, and she has served in many capacities to save, protect, and educate about God’s creation. The coal camp in southwest Virginia where she grew up was strip mined, and as a result, she developed a deep reverence for God’s creation and became involved in organizations and activities where she could speak for the land, which has no voice.
