SoulCollage® – Additional Workshop Coming in June:
Using Your Deck
facilitated by Cindi Spillman of ArtLab
Sunday, June 26
from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
in-person at Elk Haven Wellness Center in Brevard
SoulCollage® is a creative way to tap into your own wisdom and intuition. As you create a personal deck of cards (using images you cut from magazines, a glue stick, and your imagination), you can take a break from our increasingly electronics driven world, reconnect with your heart and soul, and maybe even discover some hidden insights.
Don’t think of yourself as creative? Don’t like scissors or glue? You’ll be surprised by what you’re able to create through this intuitive process, and what you’ll learn along the way. (Including how much fun you can have even by tearing and taping!)
SoulCollage® is a great way to give yourself the gift of self-care and relaxation, and have fun at the same time! Visit www.soulcollage.com for more information.

SoulCollage®: Using Your Deck
Sunday, June 26th from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Eastern
Note: Before taking this class, it is helpful to have completed Intro to SoulCollage® (at ArtLab or elsewhere), or to be familiar with the card making process and the “I Am One Who” journal exercise. Having four (or more) cards in your personal SoulCollage® Deck is ideal, but not required.
You’ve done some great work, and your personal SoulCollage® deck is growing. Now what!?!
In this session, you’ll learn how to use your cards to tap into your intuition, as a meditative prompt, or for those times when you need to “cape up.” Whether you have a minute or an hour, by yourself or with friends, incorporate your SoulCollage® deck at any point along your self-discovery path.
Participants should bring their personal SoulCollage® deck, as well as a notebook/journal. You are also welcome to bring magazine images, personal photos, etc., as we may have some card making time. All other materials, including additional magazine images, are included.
This intermediate/advanced workshop will take place in-person at Elk Haven Wellness Center in Brevard, NC on Sunday, June 26th from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Eastern. Tickets are $45 per person. Cindi Spillman of ArtLab, a certified SoulCollage® facilitator, will lead this workshop. Class size limited to 15 attendees. Please email our Registrar with any questions about this event.

Meet Cindy Spillman
After careers in interior design, arts management, and many years of urban living, Cindi Spillman has come home to Brevard—her roots in Appalachia—to open ArtLab in the midst of a community rich in creative expression. Cindi brings together a desire to return to Western North Carolina, her experience as an artist, her enthusiasm for collaboration, and a fierce determination to remove the phrase “I’m not creative” from the English language.
Photography has long been Cindi’s primary art form. As a young girl, she received a toy camera and started snapping. It didn’t take long before she graduated to the real thing, thanks to a gift from her dad (who also turned her on to bluegrass). It became clear her love of photography was matched only by her desire to travel.
Shortly after graduating from college, she lived in Kenya as part of World Teach and subsequently travelled to several countries in East and Southern Africa. Her other travels took her and her camera to Australia, Cuba, Hong Kong, Mexico, India, Israel, Egypt, Japan, New Zealand, Thailand, a handful of countries in western Europe, and much of the United States.
With each stamp in her passport, Cindi’s interest in the traditions, cuisines, languages, music, and artwork of the world grew. And yet, she experienced a more profound realization:
“No matter how different we are, or what language we speak, we have so much in common. We raise children. We love our pets. We cook. We do laundry. We get a haircut.”
It is this commonality Cindi seeks to capture through the lens, transmit in her classes, and practice in conversation with other artists and art lovers—and among common experiences, overriding the voices and challenges that block creativity.
No matter what the artful case may be, Cindi has come to ditch all rules except these:
1. Tell your inner critic to take a hike.
2. Try it—even if someone once told you that you weren’t good at it.
3. Have fun!
