WHAT: A public gathering to hear local leaders address their hopes for our community after the Midterm Elections. All who attend will have an opportunity to express their personal hopes and to ask the panelists questions.
PURPOSE: To seek common ground through hope, and build bridges for the present and future of Transylvania County
WHO: Panelists include Mike Hawkins (former Transylvania County commissioner), Howard Rock (President, Brevard Jewish Community), DeVon Holmes (Director of Teen Services, Boys & Girls Club in Brevard), and others. The event will be moderated by Rob Field, Director of Center for Spiritual Wisdom in Brevard and Gwen Jones, Sr. Pastor at St. John Baptist Church in Arden. The sponsor is the Religious Affairs Committee of the Transylvania County chapter of NAACP.
WHEN: 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
WHO’S INVITED? Everyone who wants to be part of strengthening “the ties that bind” our community.
WHY: America is dangerously divided by ideological and cultural divisions, but that does not have to be the case in our community, if we focus on our shared hopes. The Religious Affairs Committee of the Transylvania County chapter of NAACP is attempting to build bridges through an ongoing “Time to Talk” (and listen) series. “What Do We Hope For?” is the next event in this series.
