Come Learn the Ancient History & Allure of the Labyrinth
A 2-Part Introductory Workshop
led by Labyrinth Facilitator Johanna Manasse
Veriditas-trained Labyrinth Facilitator Johanna Manasse will lead a 2-part labyrinth workshop on May 14 & 15. Registrations are now being accepted.
This introductory workshop will include a one-hour virtual session via Zoom from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Eastern on Friday, May 14, and then a two-hour in-person event at a garden-situated Chartres-style labyrinth in Asheville from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15. Johanna will share how to embrace the labyrinth as a path to spiritual connection and growth. You can register for just the virtual session on Friday (Option 1), or for both the virtual and in-person sessions (Option 2).
- Option 1: Friday May 14 only (1 hour virtual session via Zoom) $25 – CLICK HERE to register and pay
Option 1 includes a historical perspective on labyrinths, visuals of the countless types of labyrinths around the world, a brief video of current practices, exercises to discern the difference between labyrinths and mazes, benefits of labyrinth walking, basic walking techniques, and an opportunity to ‘finger-walk’ a labyrinth in community followed by sharing of that experience.
- Option 2: Friday May 14 & Saturday May 15 (1 hour virtual session via Zoom AND 2 hour in-person labyrinth experience) $75 – CLICK HERE to register and pay
Option 2 includes the May 14 virtual session (as described in Option 1), followed by an in-person, private community walk in a glorious outdoor setting, and an opportunity to explore the power of the experience with one another. Participants will have plenty of time to contemplatively walk the labyrinth, to journal, and to work with finger labyrinths during this experience. In-person attendees will receive journals for use during the experience, as well as two personal finger labyrinths to keep. Participation to this in-person portion of the workshop will be limited to 25 attendees to insure our ability to remain socially distanced. Masks will be required.
Johanna Manasse is a Veriditas-trained labyrinth facilitator who walks the labyrinth in her own backyard daily. She first experienced a labyrinth walk 15 years ago at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and began a journey back to her spiritual self. Years of immersion in all things labyrinth led her to Chartres, France and training in labyrinth facilitation with Dr. Lauren Artress who promoted the rebirth of labyrinth-walking as a spiritual practice. Johanna beads labyrinths, creates temporary labyrinths indoors and outdoors, walks one with her fingers when weather is stormy, doodles and dreams this path that speaks to her soul. She thrives on introducing this practice to others, holds monthly full moon walks on her property and welcomes the neighborhood children who delight in dashing barefoot on the sandy path.
