Reel Spirit Movie Project
Next Film Discussion:
Children of Men – October 20 at 7:00 p.m.
Center for Spiritual Wisdom’s October film selection is Children of Men (2006). The Center will host an online community discussion of the film on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Eastern.
“It’s just such a rich film,” notes Dan Headrick, the facilitator for this discussion. “As with many great books and films, the themes of this film are better traced through the arcs and depths of the characters’ paths than through resolving all the ruts and obstacles of their varied journeys.”
For more information about this film, see IMDB here. This film is available and can be rented via Apple iTunes, Amazon Video, Google Play Movies, YouTube, Vudu, Microsoft Store, Redbox, AMC on Demand, and DIRECTV (for $3.99). Please check your local library as well for DVD or streaming options. You can view the trailer on YouTube here.
Participants are asked to view the film prior to the discussion on October 20. The Center will lead and host electronically through Zoom. The 2-hour discussion will be facilitated by Dan Headrick, journalist, writer, and a veteran of the Reel Spirit Movie Project. Hopefully this is just the first of many discussions that Dan will facilitate for the Center.
There is no fee for this event. However, donations to Center for Spiritual Wisdom, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization, will be gratefully accepted. A suggested donation of $5 or more per film discussion will help us continue to offer this and similar events.
Registrations will be received on a first-come, first-served basis and you can choose to make a donation via Eventbrite. After registration, participants will receive information about the film, a discussion guide that focuses on key themes, and a dedicated link to join the discussion.
Stay tuned for other movie discussions planned by the Reel Spirit Movie Project, including Mass, our November selection.
